The Winds of Change

Life is never static!  From the time we are born, till the time when life's journey finishes, it is forever changing. This can be gradual such as the change of the dimple to a wrinkle, a change so slow it goes unnoticed until one day you look in the mirror and wonder where that dimple went. Or the change can be as swift and as mercurial as a tornado sucking and destroying everything in its path.
Many changes are life altering, leaving the legacy of life experience, and a wisdom that can only come from such change.

Some changes, such as a love, we welcome.  Others, such as success, we celebrate. Some, such as death, we mourn. A change such as loss, we fear. Many of the changes we experience in life are a time of giving.  To celebrate such a change, a gift wrapped in cotton is indeed a beautiful thing.

As change is entwined with emotion much of it is met with resistance.  But change is an integral part of life and without the ability to accept and embrace change we are dragged kicking and screaming into the future. Time for change has come in the gift wrap industry. At WinC we have embraced change as in a world where we have an insatiable appetite for timber pulp and paper it is time to change from paper gift wrap to sustainable cotton gift wrap which can be regifted, reused, or recycled. make the world a better place and make your next gift a truly beautiful one by wrapping in cotton.

Baggage We Carry!

Through life's journey we collect and carry our experiences like chattels. We carry our dreams and expectations in our heads, we carry our happiness in our hearts and our hurts we carry as an invisible cloak. All of these experiences mold us into what we are today and become the baggage we carry. We cannot literally or physically carry our life's experiences as we carry our chattels but, I sometimes think how wonderful it would be if we could literally bag them up as we do our possessions and store them or give them away.

One of the oldest ways of carrying our possessions is a bag - be it paper, leather or cloth. What is more uplifting than carrying armfuls of bags after a successful day of retail therapy??? The most essential items of a new Mum is the nappy bag!  Can you imagine a golfer managing without his clubs being carried in a bag? And we all know the excitement a tiny organza bag from a jewellery store brings! The shapes and sizes of bags is as infinite as their contents.

At WinC we have added a beautiful range of cotton gift tote bags to our range. These gift tote bags are designed to present a beautiful gift by placing the handles inside and after placing the gift inside, the bag is tied shut with ribbon.  The bag can then be reused for shopping, as a nappy bag or simply for regifting to another as the wrap for a gift. Our bags carry the spirit of 'pay it forward', not only by carrying our baggage or chattels but carrying our best wishes in the form of a gift.

Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can read.

Cotton Kids

As soon as a new baby emerges into the world, the first fabric to touch its skin is cotton.  The newborn is swaddled in cotton, is wiped down with cotton, and then is dressed in cotton.  So begins a relationship that continues for a lifetime - a unique relationship between a natural fibre and man. It follows our life journey entwined in our memories as we grow and as fashions come and go. How many of us remember what we were wearing on that special occasion? To create beautiful memories WinC Wrap in Cotton is going to wrap kids in cotton with their gorgeous kid's clothing.  This range is feminine, fun and everything that a little girl could want.

In cotton we can be serious or we can be funky; we can be warm or we can be cool; we can be wet or we can be dry; we can be awake or we can be asleep! I cannot think of another relationship so opposite yet so complimentary. Wrap your little one in cotton and continue the relationship and continue to grow the memories.

Little girls are precious gifts, wrapped in love serene. Their dresses tied with sashes and futures tied with dreams.

Dare to Dream!

We may travel through life without ever daring to dream but every now and then someone who is a dreamer comes along and has a dream that becomes a reality.  The vision of the creator of WinC Wrap in Cotton was a world where gift wrapping is as elegant as the most exquisite evening gown, as colourful as the circus clown, as vibrant as the peacock or, as heady as a country garden. By wrapping in cotton your gift can be transformed into any of the above.  The gift wrap can then be reused in the spirit of 'pay it forward' to create another beautiful gift and so on.  The effect, of paying forward your gift wrap, travels ever outward like ripples in a pond.

There is twofold benefit in wrapping in cotton - the first is a gorgeous gift, the second is a beautiful environment. By wrapping in cotton you are saving hundreds of thousands of trees, saving on litter and preserving fossil fuels that go into making plastic gift wrapping products. This, is also the vision of the creator of WinC.  A world where children can grow in an environment free from pollution, a world where beauty and environment are synonymous with each other!

Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky,
We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.

The Limits We Set!

Are there any limits to what you can wrap in cotton? I do not think so! We wrap our plum pudding in cotton before boiling it merrily for hours.  We wrap our newly cut Christmas ham in cotton to keep it fresh and to stop it spoiling. We wrap our babies in cotton and for me nothing is as synonymous with babies as white cotton nappies flapping on the line, drying in the sun. We wrap our bodies in cotton in the form of clothes and for me there is no other fabric I would rather wear when it is hot and sticky in summer. Then, there is the fabric that every single person on the planet has wrapped their butt in that is made from cotton - the ageless denim.

Nothing is more luxurious than lying in a bed wrapped in crisp cotton sheets full of sunshine, fresh from the clothes line.  We wrap our dinner table in cotton - from the practical seersucker to the beautiful damask tablecloths that dress our tables. How about the super absorbent cotton bath towels we wrap ourselves in when we step out of a steaming hot shower on a winter's night?

The textures and the weave of cotton is endless - from the beautiful voiles to the snuggly fleecies - the uses are endless.  That is why at WinC we are passionate about you wrapping your gifts in cotton.  It is a sustainable product that can be used over and over again paying the wrapping forward, creating truly beautiful and elegant gifts, the limits of which are set only by ourselves.

Reuse for New!

Another product at WinC Wrap in Cotton is the Muslin Wrap.  If you know anyone about to have a bub then the perfect way to wrap their gift is with one of WinC's MuslinWraps.  That way the gift wrap becomes a gift itself.  The small wraps can be reused as a wipe for sticky fingers, faces or bottoms while the large generous muslin wrap can be used to swaddle the bub itself.  The muslins are 100% cotton and of generous size. The patterned muslins are all rolled hemmed, while the plain muslins are double thickness with a bias edging for durability. With the muslin wraps we also have matching headband available for the little girl bubs.

So instead of wrapping your gift for the new Mum and bub in paper, use one of our beautiful muslin wraps.  The new Mum will not only thank you but the environment will as well.  This perfect little human being that is swaddled in 100% cotton, that is a WinC gift wrap that has been reused, will have a better world to grow up in through the use of sustainable gift wrap.

What is old is new again!

By wrapping in cotton, you are following in the footsteps of the Japanese and their ancient art of Furoshiki.  For generations the Japanese have used the ritual of wrapping their gifts in fabric.  They also reuse the Furoshiki to carry their shopping and wrap their lunch (the fabric is laid out as a placemat when eating) as well as a giftwrap.  although the Foroshiki lost some of its popularity, in recent times the Japanese people have embraced the Furoshiki as a show of responsibility in thriftiness and a means of reducing pollution.

You can do this too if you choose to wrap your gifts in cotton. We have a whole new slant on wrapping in cotton through wrapping in a traditional western manner and we also sell fabric that can be used in the traditional Japanese way to create truly stunning, elegant gifts.

More about WinC

The philosophy of WinC Wrap in Cotton is not only conservation of  natural resources from the use of renewable sources but through the ability to regift, reuse or recycle. A WinC product is truly the gift that keeps on giving as each of our gift wrap products can be reused by wrapping another gift, by reusing as something as simple as a placemat, or simply recycling.  We at WinC embrace the spirit of 'pay it forward' in our company and products. We want you to use our products, not only to pay it forward to your friends, families and aquaintances, but to the environment through the preservation of our forests and fossil fuels.

Contrary to popular belief, conservation does not necessarily equate with daggy. The WinC product can help you theme your celebration and give you an elegance that is virtually unobtainable through any other wrapping.  We are truly proud of our products and hope that you will embrace our philosophy and follow our journey as we share our stories.
